چکیده

This paper considers an experiments on co-contraction of antagonist muscles of human limb using RISE (robust integral of the sign of the error) control. It is known that some experimental results show that the antagonist muscle and agonist muscle work at the same time, then it is called co-contraction. However, the control method of the antagonist muscle in order to give the electrical impulses by neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) is almost not shown in previous researches. One method is evaluated in previous our research by simulations. This paper is located in experimental verification of simulation results. It is shown that the co-contraction is useful to the convergence of the joint angle, the low control input of agonist muscle in step responses and disturbance responses.

Effect of Ankle Brace on the Activity and Co-Contraction of Ankle Muscles During Single-Leg Landing

Objectives: The results of a few studies about the effects of ankle brace on muscles function during the performance of different tasks are contradictory. Moreover, the effect of brace on the co-contraction of ankle muscles is undiscovered. Therefore, the present study investigated the effect of brace usage on the ankle muscles activity and co-contraction during single-leg landing. Methods: Fi...

Comparison of electrical and co-contraction activity of selected lower limb muscles during manual load lifting with three different technique

Introduction and Aim: Manual handling of loads is a complex dynamic task that involves the upper and lower limbs. Manual handling of loads in sports and daily activities can expose people to unfavorable physical conditions and lead to injury. The study aimed to compare the electrical activity and co-contraction of selected lower limb muscles during manual load lifting with three different techn...

Muscle Co-Contraction Modulates Damping and Joint Stability in a Three-Link Biomechanical Limb

Computational models of neuromotor control require forward models of limb movement that can replicate the natural relationships between muscle activation and joint dynamics without the burdens of excessive anatomical detail. We present a model of a three-link biomechanical limb that emphasizes the dynamics of limb movement within a simplified two-dimensional framework. Muscle co-contraction eff...
